Matsuyama

I have to say I am a SUPER-FAN of Japanese cuisine, especially the sashimi! Every week (or I should say almost everyday) I am craving for sashimi for no reason. Matsuyama is one of the places where I can satisfy my sashimi craving, and I've brought EU with me today because I always mention this restaurant to her, telling her that it has always been one of the places where I can get good sashimi.

Le Picasso Roll-4.5/6

  • asparagus, crab, masago, tuna, salmon, avocado
  • $4.95/4 rolls
  • rice and filling are right in proportion
  • asparagus is not too hard
  • rice has that vinegar flavour
  • seaweed is not bland
  • include all ingredients listed on the menu (they didn't cheat!)
  • right size; not too big nor too small; reasonable prized

Saba & Tai Sashimi-6/6 for Saba, 4/6 for Tai (since I'm not a fan of Tai)

  • $10.95 for 9 pieces
  • they don't have 1/2 serving; you have to order 9 pieces at one time!
  • fresh
  • Tai is not as soft as Saba (to me)
  • most of their sashimi are $10.95
  • EU thinks their sashimi are a bit expensive
  • they are cut in pretty big pieces, but are definitely not as big as Banzai's
  • I think for $10.95 is worth it
  • definitely able to satisfy a person's sashimi craving

  1. Actually I just noticed $10.95 for 9 pieces is acceptable. I think I thought of it as expensive because they don't have half order! I agree with "I'm not a big fan of Tai", that is exactly the title of my Matsuyama post! (Gimme 5!)We will definitely go for salmon/tuna instead of Tai on our next visit :)

  2. The fact that they don't offer 1/2 order is really a problem. Oh well, maybe because I was already filled up today that's why I said enough. If I'm seriously craving for some sashimi, 9pcs per order? No problem! ;)
