Seto Sushi-Authentic + Tradtional

My impression to Seto Sushi is...high-end Japanese restaurant. EU (my all-time foodie buddy) has always mentioned its name and is saying their "pricey sashimi and sushi". Hmm sounds authentic isn't it? So we decided to give it a try...just two of us ;) Haha

Seto Sushi

Food: 4.5
Price: 4
Services: 4
Ambiance: 4.5
Overall: 4
  • authentic Japanese restaurant
  • run by Japanese
  • popular to Japanese
  • For lunch: Wed-Mon 11:30am-2:30pm (Last order: 2:15pm)
  • For dinner: Wed-Mon 5:30pm-10pm (Last order: 9:30pm)
  • Closed on Tuesdays
  • higher prices compare to other Japanese restaurants in Vancouver and Richmond
  • traditional Japanese restaurant; they do not have those fancy special rolls
  • menu is user-friendly (pictures included)
Tuna & Sockeye Salmon Sashimi-5.5/6 (for both)
  • I don't really remember the price
  • surely fresh!
  • textures are not bland/mushy
  • even though I don't remember the price, I think Seto's sashimi is definitely on the higher price. You can get similar quality at Torarenbo on No.3 Rd
House Roll (4pcs)-4/6
  • $7.50/4pcs $14/8pcs
  • salmon, prawn tempura, avocado, crab
  • rice has got that vinegar taste
  • honestly, these House Roll are nothing special...not really impressive
  • rice and fillings are in the right proportion
  • each roll contains the equal amount of filling
Saba Battera-5/6
  • $10
  • marinated saba (mackerel) pressed in square mold on sushi rice
  • there is a very thin piece of glazed sheet on top of every roll; it tastes a little bit sour but it goes well with the saba and the rice
  • rice tastes good!
  • saba is fresh
Actually, since I am craving for saba fish recently (after the dinner at Guu Garden), this dish may rate a little bit higher. But anyway, it still tastes great! :)
Vegetable Gyoza-4/6
  • $4
  • again, nothing special; it tastes like the frozen ones/typical ones
  • the amount of filling is acceptable but I wish they can give me more
Overall, it is a fun experience to try such authentic and traditional Japanese restaurant. But if you just want to pick up some cheap-eats, you can go to Banzai Sushi /Jumbo Sushi (both in Richmond). Or if you want to have the similar quality with a lower price, I highly recommend Torarenbo ;)
